If you use WordPress, or Shopify listen up!
On March 2nd, 2020 Instagram is discontinuing API access in favor of The Basic Display API. This means that after this date any client whose page displays an Instagram feed will stop working! So this includes all themes on Shopify or WordPress that have supported Instagram feeds. These will all need to be updated.Â
In order to make sure your page is not affected you will need to….
For SHOPIFY users:Â
Delete the Instagram feed section from any page it is being displayed. Should you wish to do so, log into the admin and follow these steps:
- Navigate to Online Store > Customise
- Locate the Instagram section within the Theme Editor.
- Remove the Instagram section where it appears on all pages.
Adding Instagram feeds using apps
Moving forward, Instagram feeds on Shopify stores will require the use of a 3rd party app. Below is a collection of apps that leverage Instagram’s Basic Display API to feature an Instagram feed on a merchant store.
For WORDPRESS users:
Instead of having to use a 3rd party app it is a bit easier. Users must reconnect the Instagram account in order to see the feed once again.
An error box will appear looking like this:
All you have to do is follow the directions and Reconnect on plugin Settings page.
