Facebook is forever evolving and they are not slowing down with their updates! You may or may not be aware that Facebook is removing the “Our Story” section from pages next month. The Page Story function was added to Facebook back in 2017 with the purpose to help brands provide a background on their business in order to better connect with visitors of their Page.

If you have a Facebook Page you may have seen an alert pop up on your page about this recently. As you can see from this alert (shown above), Facebook is encouraging Page owners to add their ‘Our Story’ information to the ‘Additional Information’ section instead. Currently the ‘Our Story’ section is displayed within the ‘About’ section on your Page, which looks quite cluttered.

It appears that the ‘Our Story’ section will be removed from the main page and shifted to a secondary element. Users will be able to tap through on an ‘Additional Information’ prompt or tab to read more about your story. This change will alter the way that your story information is displayed on your page. The change in layout may mean that you will need to reassess your Facebook Page layout to align with the update.

In order to prepare your page for the move, you can simply click ‘Edit Page’ on the prompt shown in the image above and below. From there you will be able to edit the ‘Additional Information’ section to include your story. Alternatively, you can go to your ‘Settings’ then ‘Page Info’ to edit your “Additional Information’ section.

Hopefully this quick update on the changes Facebook is planning for Pages has helped clarify some things. Be sure to keep an eye out for what Facebook plans to update next!
