Business Mentoring New Zealand

Having a business mentor guide you through your business activities can provide you with highly valuable information and expertise to successfully compete in your market. Business mentors can help to shorten the distance between your business growth goals and real, sustainable success.

Business Mentors New Zealand is an independent national mentoring service that provides to the small business sector in New Zealand. This service matches experienced business people, the mentors, with small business owners. BMNZ has worked with over 70,000 individuals including startup entrepreneurs, existing business owners and not-for-profit executives. BMNZ determines which of their mentors would best suit the needs of each client to provide the greatest assistance. Reasons for registering with a mentor with BMNZ may be that you are looking to learn from those who have the experience and knowledge to empower you to be better and navigate inevitable challenges you face in today’s competitive business environment.

In today’s blog post I will be discussing the value that having a business mentor and becoming a business mentor can provide. I will also mention where you can find a mentor and how you can become a mentor for BMNZ.

If you are a small business owner, having someone to bounce your ideas off of can be highly valuable. Your business mentor can provide you with constructive feedback on your ideas and about your business. It’s very important to have a sounding board no matter how long you have been in business, and that’s what business mentors can help you with. You’re the one doing all the work, but a business mentor will be able to give you the confidence to believe in what you are doing.

Another great benefit to enlisting a business mentor is that if your business mentor has been successful in helping you to improve your business and grow, you are in effect providing to your community in a way. If your business is growing and improving you can employ more staff which means there’s more money going back into the community. This has a pretty cool flow-on effect! In today’s business environment with regard to the disruption caused by Covid-19, having more money flow back into communities throughout New Zealand will help to slowly repair the economy.

BMNZ isn’t just for those looking for a mentor, it’s also for those who have expertise they’re willing to share. If you have expertise that you feel could benefit others, enquire to become a mentor. Mentoring is a very valuable way to give back, it is also super rewarding and I highly encourage you to give it a go! Being able to share in someone else’s passion about what they do and to be able to help them craft their dream business is pretty cool.

You may be put off by the idea of mentoring due to the time commitments you have, but remember that you don’t have to commit to 10 hours a month. So if you have a spare few hours each month, give it a go! Your mentee will be grateful to have you on board, as well as the Business Mentors Programme.

If you are interested in enlisting a business mentor from BMNZ for your business, simply head over to the BMNZ website https://www.businessmentors.org.nz/. Once on there, go under their menu tab and click on the tab “Register for a Mentor”. On this page there will be a form that you can fill out to get you registered with a business mentor. This will get you all set up to be assigned a business mentor.

If you are interested in becoming a mentor you can also do this through the BMNZ website. Click on the tab “Become a Mentor” under their menu tab. On this page there will be a heap of information on how to become a mentor and if you scroll down you will find a button that says “Become a Mentor Now”.
